Connect a Gmail or Google Workspace account with OAuth to send and receive email through Conduit. This direct connection does not require email forwarding or DNS records.

Before You Start

You need:
  • Permission to manage channels in your Conduit workspace
  • Access to the Gmail or Google Workspace account you want to connect
  • Pop-ups enabled for Conduit
A Google Workspace administrator may need to approve Conduit as a trusted app if your organization restricts third-party app access.

Connect Your Gmail Account

1

Open Email settings

In Conduit, go to Settings > Connected Channels > Email.
2

Start the Gmail connection

Click Add Gmail account. A Google authorization window opens.
3

Choose the Google account

Sign in to the Gmail or Google Workspace account you want Conduit to use. If several Google accounts are signed in, confirm that you select the intended address.
4

Grant access

Review Google’s consent screen and allow the requested Gmail permissions. Conduit uses these permissions to sync email, send replies, and identify the connected address.
5

Confirm the connection

The authorization window closes automatically. The connected address appears under Gmail accounts in Conduit.
To connect another address, repeat these steps. Use the menu next to an account and select Set as default if it should be the default sender for email from Conduit.

Permissions Used by Conduit

The OAuth connection lets Conduit:
  • Read and sync messages from the connected mailbox
  • Update messages as needed to keep the Conduit inbox in sync
  • Send email from the connected address
  • Identify the connected Google account’s email address
Conduit retains access until you disconnect the account in Conduit or revoke access from your Google account.

Reconnect an Account

If an account displays Needs To Be Reauthenticated:
  1. For a managed Google Workspace account, follow Google’s reauthentication policy instructions. Your administrator can mark Conduit as a trusted app and exempt trusted apps from reauthentication, or change the session policy.
  2. In Conduit, open the menu next to the account and click Reconnect. You can also click Add Gmail account.
  3. Sign in to the same Google account and grant access again.

Disconnect an Account

Open the menu next to the Gmail account, click Delete, and confirm Remove account. Conduit stops processing email from that account.
Disconnecting an account does not delete messages from Gmail or existing conversations from Conduit.

Troubleshooting

Allow pop-ups for Conduit, then click Add Gmail account again.
Ask your Google Workspace administrator to allow Conduit as a trusted third-party app, then retry the connection.
Delete the account in Conduit, click Add Gmail account, and select the correct Google account on the consent screen.
Wait a few seconds and refresh the Email settings page. If the account still does not appear, repeat the connection and make sure you complete the Google consent screen.
