# Additional email addresses

> Add more email addresses on a connected domain, or connect an additional domain, and manage them from one inbox.

## Overview

Conduit lets your team manage several company email addresses from a single inbox. That means you can handle different types of enquiry, or several brands, without splitting your team across separate tools.

When your team replies, Conduit defaults to sending from the address the guest originally wrote to, so conversations stay consistent from the guest's side.

## Adding more addresses on a domain you already have

If the new address sits on a domain you have already connected, the DNS records are done. You only need to add the address and forward it.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your email settings">
    Go to **Settings > Email**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the domain under Connected domains">
    Click **Configure** next to the domain you want to add an address to.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your addresses">
    Under **Email addresses**, click **Add email**. Each domain holds up to 20 addresses and needs at least one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up forwarding for each new address">
    Every address needs its own forwarding rule pointing at your inbound address, even on a domain that is already connected. Follow [Receiving Emails in Conduit](/setup/channels/email/receiving-emails-in-conduit) for your provider, using the same inbound address shown for that domain.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Sending is already handled. The DKIM and return path records belong to the domain, not to the individual address, so a new address on a connected domain can send as soon as it is added.
</Note>

## Adding a different domain

If the new address is on a different domain, that domain needs connecting first.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your email settings">
    Go to **Settings > Email**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the domain">
    Next to **Connected domains**, click **Add domain**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure it the same way as your first">
    Set the new domain up exactly as you did the first one, including [receiving](/setup/channels/email/receiving-emails-in-conduit) and [sending](/setup/channels/email/sending-emails-from-conduit). Each domain has its own records and its own forwarding.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your addresses">
    Once the domain is connected, click **Configure** next to it and add the addresses you want. Each one needs its own forwarding rule.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A common reason to add a second domain is running more than one brand. If that applies to you, it is worth telling your onboarding contact, as it also affects how you group listings and how your agent introduces itself.
</Note>

## How replies work

Once your addresses are set up, your team can choose which one to reply from when composing a message. Conduit defaults to the address the guest originally contacted, so unless someone deliberately changes it, the guest sees a consistent address throughout.

To change which address is used by default, click the **···** menu next to it on the Email settings page and choose **Set as default**. The same menu has a **Delete** option.

## Connecting an individual Gmail account

If what you want is a single Gmail mailbox rather than a company domain, use the **Gmail accounts** section on the Email settings page instead. Click **Add Gmail account** and authorize through Google. That path needs no DNS records and no forwarding rules. See [Connect Email](/setup/channels/email/connect-email).
