Every step has a **Title** that guests see. Agreement and waiver text and deposit instructions are required, and take variables. ID check, required fee, Chekin and custom gate steps need **Instructions**. Your details, questions and additional people have an optional **Description** instead. ## ID check | Setting | Default | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Accepted documents** | Passport or driver's license | Shown to the guest on the verification screen | | **Verification method** | **Conduit AI review** | **Conduit AI review**, **Didit identity verification**, or **Autohost identity verification** with a connected Autohost account | | **Auto-approve on a clean pass** | Off | Approves IDs that pass review with nothing flagged | **Conduit AI review** adds these settings: | Setting | Default | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Require a live photo of the ID** | Off | The guest takes the photo with their camera instead of uploading one | | **Require the back of the ID** | Off | The guest adds the back of a driver's license or state ID | | **Require a photo of the person checking in** | Off | The guest takes a selfie, compared with the ID photo | | **Flag a name mismatch** | On | Holds the ID for review when the name doesn't match the reservation | | **Flag a selfie mismatch** | On | Shows when the selfie is required. Holds the ID when the selfie doesn't match | | **Flag guests under an age** | Off | Holds the ID when the guest is under the age you set | | **Flag guests who live nearby** | Off | Holds the ID when the address on it is within the distance you set | * IDs that aren't auto-approved wait in [Submissions](https://docs.conduit.ai/portals/submissions.md#review-an-id). With auto-approve off, that's every ID * An unreadable ID is rejected straight away so the guest can try again * Picking Didit turns **Auto-approve on a clean pass** on. Didit needs no setup ## Agreement * **Document format**: **Rich text** (default) or **Upload PDF** * In rich text, **Add variable** (the `{ }` button, or type `/`) inserts stay details: guest name, email and phone, listing name, address and city, check-in and checkout dates and times, nights, party size, max occupancy, confirmation code, booking channel, reservation ID, business name and today's date * A PDF can be up to 10 MB and 100 pages. Drag fields onto it from **Fields** (text, email, phone, date, checkbox, radio, select, acknowledgment, initials and signature) or **Autofill** (guest, stay and listing details). It needs at least one **Signature**, with up to 100 fields * The guest adopts a signature once, then taps each signature field * Agreements can't be priced or optional ## Damage waiver A waiver uses the same **Document format**, text and PDF fields as an agreement. | Setting | Default | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Charge for this waiver** | Off | Charges the guest after they sign | | **Charge type** | **Flat** | **Flat**, **Per night**, **% of ADR** or **% of total fare**. Both percentages have an **Include fees** switch and start at 20 | | **Min price**, **Max price** | Any | Keeps the price in a range. Every type except Flat | | **Minimum nights** | None | Stays shorter than this get the waiver free | | **Optional step** | Off | The guest can decline instead of signing | * Percentage prices need the stay's amounts from Hostaway, Guesty, Track or Mews. Until the price resolves, the guest sees **Price pending** and can't finish the step * A declined waiver is recorded with the terms shown, a timestamp and the device details ## Security deposit | Setting | Default | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Amount** | None | The hold, above 0 | | **Place the hold** | 3 days before check-in | 1, 2 or 3 days before check-in, or right away when check-in is sooner | | **Release the hold** | 3 days after checkout | **At checkout**, or 1 to 7 days after checkout | | **Optional step** | Off | The guest can decline instead of saving a card | * The guest saves a card with **Save deposit card**. The hold is placed later and isn't a charge * Holds renew automatically when they'd expire before the release date * If the card fails, the guest sees **Action needed** and saves a card again, and the submission shows **Deposit card failed** * Collect, release or renew holds from [Security deposits](https://docs.conduit.ai/portals/payments.md#security-deposits) ## Required fee | Setting | Default | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Charge type** | **Flat** | **Flat**, or **% of ADR** charged once per stay | | **Use reservation details** | Off | Flat only. Prices the fee from a **Count** on the reservation: **Guest count**, **Additional guest count** (guests minus 1) or **Pet count** (the default) | | **Pricing** | Per guest or per pet | Per guest or pet, per guest or pet per night, or **Flat**. Guests confirm the count and can raise it up to 50 | * Every matching fee is paid together as one step * **Only when the guest answers** under targeting adds a fee for certain answers only. See [Targeting](https://docs.conduit.ai/portals/check-in-steps.md#targeting) ## Your details A new rule starts with **Full name**, **Email**, **Phone** and a required **Expected arrival time**. * Field types: **Full name**, **Email**, **Phone**, **Number of guests**, **Expected arrival time** and **Expected departure time**, plus **Short text**, **Long text**, **Country**, **Single select**, **Multi select**, **Checkbox**, **Photo upload** and **Document upload** * Each field has a **Label**, **Helper text**, **Placeholder** and **Required** switch, up to 30 fields. Choice fields need 2 or more options * **Save email to Conduit** and **Save phone number to Conduit** (both on) add the answers to the guest's contact. They don't update the PMS * Phone numbers need the + and country code, for example +44 7700 900123 * **Number of guests > Update guest count** (off) writes the new count to the reservation. **Add guests** goes up to the listing's max guests, **Remove guests** goes down. Hostaway and Guesty support both, Track only adds * **Save answer to a contact field** writes a custom field's answer to a contact field * Uploads are up to 10 MB. **Photo upload** takes JPG, PNG, HEIC or WEBP ## Questions Questions use the same custom field types as **Your details**, without the predefined ones. A rule takes up to 30 questions, and choice questions need 2 or more options. ## Additional people | Setting | Default | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Use reservation guest count** | Off | Sets the minimum to the reservation's guest count minus 1. Guests can add more | | **Minimum** | 0 | | | **Maximum** | 12 | Up to 50 | | **Fields per person** | **Email** and **Phone**, optional | **Full name** is always collected. Add **Short text**, **Email**, **Phone** or **Image upload**, up to 20 | ## Chekin guest registration Registers guests with police and tourism offices through Chekin. It needs a Chekin account connected in **Settings > Connections**. * **Let guests scan their ID** (on) fills the form from a photo of the passport or ID card * [Submissions](https://docs.conduit.ai/portals/submissions.md) shows each guest's registration, with **Resend to police** when it failed ## Custom gate The guest can't do anything on this step. It completes when its conditions match. * **Complete when**: **All conditions must match** or **Any condition can match**, up to 20 conditions * Conditions: **Payment > Paid in full** (the PMS payment status), **Reservation custom fields** or **Contact attributes** * It's checked on every reservation sync and when a contact attribute it uses changes * The guest sees **Done** as soon as the conditions match.
