# Custom domains

> Send portal links on your own domain, like guest.example.com, instead of portals.conduit.ai.

Portal links use portals.conduit.ai until you add a custom domain. Needs **Manage Portals**.

## Add a domain

1. Go to **Portals > Settings > Custom domains**
2. Enter a subdomain you control, for example `guest.example.com`, and click **Add domain**
3. Add the records under **DNS records** at your DNS provider. On Cloudflare, set them to **DNS only**
4. Wait for **Active**. Conduit checks automatically, or click **Check status**

* The domain needs at least three parts, like `guest.example.com`. A bare `example.com` isn't accepted
* Statuses: **DNS required**, **Checking**, **Active**, **Error** and **Removing**

## More than one domain

* Up to 5 domains
* The first domain, with no templates, is the **Default**
* Each later domain needs **Templates**, the active templates it's for. A template can be on one domain only

## Which links use it

* Portal links created after the domain is **Active** use it, including links sent again to existing guests
* Links already sent on portals.conduit.ai keep working
* Receipt emails link through portals.conduit.ai
* **Remove** stops every link on that domain from working. Remove the records from your DNS provider once it's done
